This isn't even vaguely writing related, but I'm having some feels today. The tiktok ban in the US has gone into effect. At first, I was annoyed when it was seriously becoming a thing. And then I got so fucking angry, I was ready to burn some shit down. And now I'm just...sad. I've met so many wonderful people on tiktok, learned so many new things. I've become aware of numerous issues both domestically and overseas that matter to me, seeing things other apps would NEVER dare to show me. I've found tons of new artists to listen to, or follow elsewhere to look at their wonderful drawings, or read their amazing fic. I've found delicious recipes like you wouldn't believe. I've watched the cutest animals play and thrive and get all the love they deserve. I've seen all the silly trends with the silly sounds and filters. I've watched edits of all my favorite characters. I've seen some of the most amazing cosplay in the world. I've found community. I've found friends, which I never expected. Call me 'chronically online', if you want. It's probably accurate. But it feels like I'm losing this massive part of myself, something that keeps me connected to my fellow humans like no other platform could dream of. I'm going to miss it so much. 💜

Because I reread the story in the appendices, and I understand that she doesn’t even get a name in the book, but she’s literally the only character that’s there for all the action and doesn’t die partway through.

Her brothers? Dead. Helm Hammerhand? Dead. Her cousin? Gone for most of the battles. And it makes way more sense to focus on Helm’s daughter- someone with deep emotional ties to all this loss, and an emotional tie to the villain- as opposed to focusing on some random soldier or general

Just say you hate women and leave it at that, don’t try to justify it with ‘I just want it to be accurate to the books!’

I just got a reminder that I have not filled out my survey, and there were 12 other employees CCed on that email. How did they know we specifically have not done the survey yet? Also now I know who has not done the survey, not exactly taking this confidential information all that seriously are we.
